Dear Expert,
I am reaching out to invite you to co-author a study I have been commissioned to conduct for the STOA Panel of the European Parliament. The study explores how Open Science and generative AI interact, and what this means for the future of scientific exchange in Europe. The study is a foresight study and will inform members of parliament on this topic.
Given your expertise and contributions in this field, I would be very glad to include your perspective as an active voice and co-author. The aim is to develop a robust (however limited in scope), policy-relevant analysis that reflects current expert thinking and helps structure the discussion around opportunities, risks, and governance options.
For background, framing, and working materials, please see here.
How the co-authors' contribution is organised (3 steps)
In the second half of January, you will receive a summary of the STOA workshop on OS and AI with a status quo summary on up-to-date literature. You will then be invited to contribute one or more concise scenarios. These are short descriptions of plausible future developments at the intersection of Open Science and generative AI in scientific exchange, including key drivers and implications.
In late February, we will publish the study protocol, including the experts’ scenarios on Zenodo, to ensure transparency and a clear shared basis for the research.
Outputs and timeline in 2026
If you are interested in participating, a brief confirmation would be appreciated. I will then share the practical details for the first step (scenario input format, expected length, and deadlines).
For your notice: I will not be able to reimburse you for your time (and travel). I still hope you will consider participating.
With best regards,
Julia
